I blame the the Product Manager

by The Cranky Sales Engineer on June 28, 2009

in The PM Profession

The Cranky Sales Engineer has botched his Facebook username and is doomed to live with the error forever as there is no delete, no backspace, no rename, and no access to customer support.

He blames product marketing. What kind of idiot creates a product that assumes 100% accuracy from its users?

He should blame QA/testing.

No sympathy – CSA was probably running 16+ apps while trying to prove they could multi-task, updating without thinking about it fully, hitting the return key early and also not watching the screen.

All these years and you never learned to touch type….

llc — Is a CSA pretty much the same as a CSE?

“glass houses” :-) [smiley esp. because it appears you know the CSE]

Facebook doesn’t have customers. They have users. Big difference given they don’t charge for anything. And given FB has 200,000,000 (so they claim) users, what size of user support team would they need if they actually answered user issues directly?

Just wondering why the CSE can’t just create a new user name that is spelled correctly?

Saeed – CSE only has one email address and hasn’t figured out how to get around that…
