Good God. Was one of them an EMR?
Yuhri, by “EMR” do you mean electronic medical record? No, none of the “NextGen” products were Electronic Medical Records or even vaguely related.
CPM, I think I’ve got you beat. This is number 4 of the NextGen for me. I’ve made a career around doing these NextGen products. It is a certain skill-set to be able to look at the market, figure out what the customers need that they don’t even realize it, get it all down on paper (or in Word) and then wait several years for development to only be able to build half of it. Ahh, but getting the T-shirt at launch is worth it. most definitely. Especially when you have to design and buy them yourself out of your budget because Dev doesn’t even think of rewarding their team with any type of motivational geek-wear.
Look at it this way. someone had to design the Elmo underwear that was in your purse, and wouldn’t that be a “crappy” job?
NextGen?? Now I KNOW we know each other.
Howard is onto something with the t-shirt idea. It could become one of the CPM swag items. It says “NextGen 2.0″ then under that, or on the back something like “your logo here.” I give this idea freely for the good of cranky PMs everywhere. Like any good PM, I do not have to worry about HOW you will execute that.
